Dear flight sharing community,
The year 2017 is coming to an end and we shared a great time with you. We wanted to recap the year and share our vision for 2018. First of all, a big thank you to all for being part of our platform. Wingly would never be where it is without you, whether you are pilot or co-pilot.
Within the last 365 days, we grew the community 30,000 to 110,000 people. Thousands of people had a great Wingly experience (actually, 99.999% of the reviews left had 5 stars) and together we celebrated at close to a dozen events all over Europe. We have pilots based in more than 300 airfields all over Europe, currently offering more than 40,000 flights. Last but not least we grew our team from 5 to 11 international talents from all over the world. A spirit of the culture that we’d like to keep.
Starting early this year, we released our biggest news: A complimentary, additional insurance cover by Allianz, one of the world’s biggest insurance companies. We also got plenty of other great partners, Bose Aviation, Diamond Aircraft, Jeppesen, Air Million, Pooley’s, Total and many more.
We had an “aww”-moment in the team, a proposal on a Wingly flight in Germany. The couple engaged in the clouds, flying on cloud 9!
Together with our partners, we organised the first two Wingly fly-ins: one in June in Koblenz, Germany and one in Goodwood, England. Both fly-ins didn’t have the greatest weather but 35-40 planes and helicopters flying in, hosting more than 100 people each! A great time not just for you but all of us. We selected the two pilots of the year: Paul Buckley in the UK with dozens of passengers but also Matthias Mühmel, a young pilot from Cologne with more than 100 passengers and over 13,000 € of savings. Impressive numbers that convince us that we are in a good way.
All of us want to keep going this way, especially in 2018. We have plenty of surprises for you for the pilots but also on the passengers. There will be for sure many more community gatherings within the coming year!
To conclude: you guys are awesome. Again, a big thank you to any passenger, pilot or partner that helped us grow. The whole Wingly crew wishes you a Merry Christmas and very a Happy New Year. We’ll see you in the sky next year.
Your Wingly Control Tower,
Agapios, Ahaad, Bertrand, Benjamin, Dimitris, Dovydas, Edouard, Emeric, Lars, Melanie & Paul!
