The UK coastline is a real treasure trove that only reveals its glorious beauty when explored from the sky. We have recently shared our 10 tips to enjoy your flying experience in the Isle of Wight, so here are 5 more gorgeous UK islands to discover thanks to flight sharing.
1 – Alderney
Did you know that the breakwater of Alderney’s harbour is longer than any breakwater in the UK? This 3,000-foot long pier was built in the 19th century when massive fortifications were undertook on the island to deter attacks from France. Along with Fort Clonque and Mannez Lighthouse it is one of the island’s landmarks. You will not miss this iconic building of the island flying into Alderney from the north.

3 – Jersey
The largest of the three Channel Islands is home to the mysterious Mont Orgueil Castle built in the 13th century after the island split from Normandy, to the breathtaking Elizabeth Castle – a sleek 16th-century fortress standing on a rocky islet – and to the gorgeous Saint Brelade’s Bay Beach. You can marvel at these beautiful landmarks from the glass cockpit of a light aircraft before landing and further exploring them. If you fancy a snack after your visit, make sure to try the Jersey Wonders, those delicious bits of fried dough. And you cannot leave Jersey without stopping by the Fresh Fish Company in Saint Helier: they’ve got the best prawn cakes ever!

4 – The Isle of Man
The island that hosts the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Race, one the greatest motorcyle sporting events in the world, is also known for the Snaefell, a superb grassy mountain, the wild Calf of Man, this 618-acre island off the southwest coast of the Isle, and the Peel Marina. During your flight sharing experience, you will be able to see all this from the sky. If you do land in the Isle of Man airport, make sure to visit the Manx Aviation and Military Museum and the Laxey Wheel which will offer you an incredible view of the Island, although not as good as from a cockpit.

5 – The Isles of Scilly
Since the Channel Islands don’t belong to the UK, the Isles of Scilly are officially its southernmost point. Flying over the islands, you will first be struck by their shere beauty: an emerald on a sea of sapphire. The bright blue of the waters of Rushy Bay will ravish you, that’s for sure. And for the foodies, do land at Saint Mary’s airport and embark on a tour of the vineyards of Holy Vale Wines: the lobster lunch and wine tasting sitting in the sunshine is a must-do.
